Nova Scotia, Canada, is a beautiful destination that offers a lot of activities. It has a great coastline with thousands of miles, a friendly Maritime culture and a delicious cuisine. This province is so rich in history and breathtaking scenery, it can be difficult to narrow down your list.

  1. Cliffs of Fundy UNESCO Global Gepark

The Cliffs of Fundy is a newly-designated UNESCO Global Geopark. It includes 165km of coastline, 40 geosites and colorful villages. There are also many historic and natural stops. You will be able to see many views, rock formations and sea stacks on the drive from Debert to Apple River.

Before you set out on your drive, check the tide times in the Bay of Fundy. The tide can change the landscape so drastically, it’s best to start exploring as soon as the tide goes out and return to shore between 2 and 3 hours before high tide. Safety first

  1. Cape d’Or Coastal Park

Do you dream of gazing out over the Bay of Fundy or Minas Channel. Heading to Cape d’Or Coastal Park? The site includes the Cape d’Or Lighthouse. You’ll enjoy stunning panoramic views of the surrounding landscape.

The Annapolis Valley, located near the Bay of Fundy is one of Canada’s most picturesque agricultural regions. You will find a variety of beautiful sites, including vineyards, beaches, rocks, and other interesting features.

Don’t forget the Wolfville Magic Winery Bus, a hop-on, hop-off bus that takes you through wineries and the Fort Ann National Historic Site, Canada’s oldest. You can also see the whale watching in Digby and the Kejimkujik National Park petroglyphs.

  1. Old Town Lunenburg

Old Town Lunenburg is a UNESCO World Heritage Site and has survived the test of time. It is North America’s best-surviving planned British colonial city. Expect unique shops, colorful homes that are well preserved, amazing cuisine, and breathtaking views of the ocean.

  1. Fortress of Louisbourg

The Fortress of Louisbourg, the largest historical reconstruction on the continent is an incredible site that seamlessly blends educational history and breathtaking landscapes. This site is dedicated the history of French colonialism in the 1700s and the Mi’kmaq.

The Fortress of Louisbourg can be found amongst Cape Breton’s rocky shoreline. It is a striking contrast to the fortifications and reconstructed homes, as well as the ruins.

  1. Peggy’s Cove

Peggy’s Cove, located just 45 minutes from Halifax on Nova Scotia’s Bluenose Coast, is one of Canada’s most iconic sites. Peggy’s Cove is a place to explore, take photos of the Lighthouse, wander around the coves and go kayaking.

A new addition to Peggy’s Cove’s is a viewing platform. This deck will allow you to capture incredible views and improve your photography skills.

  1. Mahone Bay

Mahone Bay is also located in Lunenburg County. This idyllic little town has great views of the harbor and shops that sell hand-crafted goods. It also offers fun kayaking and sailing tours and its own microbrewery. You can relax here, enjoy the view, and recharge your batteries.

  1. Blue Rocks

Blue Rocks is located just down the road to Old Town Lunenburg. This little community has been called “Lunenburg’s Answer to Peggy’s Cove”. Blue Rocks, the town’s coastline of blue slate rocks and its on-the-water fishing hut are both well-known.

  1. Martinique Beach Provincial Park

Do you feel like a day at the beach? Head to Martinique Beach, Nova Scotia’s longest sandy shore. Martinique beach is a beautiful white sandy beach with great swimming spots and wooded areas.

You might consider the Martinique Beach Trail if you are looking for something more active. The trail runs for 8.2km (5 mi) along the dunes and is great for all levels of hiking.

  1. Arisaig Lighthouse

The Arisaig Lighthouse, located in Antigonish is a picturesque spot that’s perfect for a quick visit or a more extended exploration.
